SEOUL, Oct. 18 (Yonhap) — CGV, the country’s biggest movie chain, claimed Sunday it will raise ticket price ranges starting up Oct. 26, as the prolonged pandemic has dealt a major blow to its bottom line.

The chain stated ticket prices will increase to 12,000 received (US$10) and 13,000 won for films on present soon after 1 p.m on weekdays and on weekends (Friday to Sunday), respectively.

It will also get rid of the recent seat grade method in which pricing relies upon on the distance from the monitor — economic climate, standard and key — and in which seats in the prime zone cost 2,000 gained more than financial system seats. By form, videos that are demonstrated in 4DX and IMAX will require an more demand of 1,000 won.

The new steps translate into a rate increase of 1,000-2,000 received.

“Rate increases are unavoidable as paying on rent, administration and choosing is escalating every year, even though suffering a major drop in income and expending extra funds on COVID-19 connected disinfection endeavours,” CGV stated.

Because the pandemic started in February in the place, the overall variety of moviegoers has declined by approximately 70 % as of September.
